The two scenes that stayed most clearly in my memory were intense.
The first was in Chapter 8, where Ram found that soldier Balwant Singh had hanged himself.
I chose it because the book showed the cruelty of war vividly, and I felt that if I had been Ram, I would have been terrified.
The second was in Chapter 9, when Ram spilled tea on Ahmed’s mail and learned that he was a killer.
Having shown Ahmed as a kind man before, the book completely surprised me.
After I had finished the book, realizing how slow I was, I decided to study English harder to read more difficult novels.
