Humans have changed Earth in many ways. Our impact is so strong and long-lasting that some scientists say we should have our own geological epoch. This means that our time on earth is important enough to be a new chapter in the plant's history. Humans may have changed earth as much as the great glacier of the ice ages or asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.

1. Humans have changed Earth in many ways.

   인간은 여러가지 방법으로 지구를 변화시켜왔다(변화시켰다).

   have change'd'로, have + p.p(과거분사) 형태를 사용하면 '과거로부터 ~~을 해왔다'라는 의미가 됩니다.

2. Our impact is so strong and long-lasting that some scientists say we should have our own geological epoch.

   우리의 영향은 너무 강하고 오래 지속돼서 몇몇 과학자들은 우리가 우리만의 지질시대를 가져야한다고 말한다.

   so ~ that은 너무 ~~해서 ~ 하다라는 뜻이 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 'so (strong and long lasting) that ~'은 너무 강하고 길게 유지되어 that ~ 이다 라는 뜻입니다.

   또한, say와 we 사이의 that은 생략되었습니다.

3. This means that our time on earth is important enough to be a new chapter in the plant's history.

   이것은 우리의 지구에서의 시간이 식물 역사의 새로운 장이 될 만큼 충분히 중요하다는 것을 의미합니다.

   해석상 무슨 뜻인지는 잘 모르겠네요.

   목적어 that이 사용되어 This means that ~

   -> 이것은 의미한다 / (that 다음의 문장)이라는 뜻이 됩니다.

   enough to~는 ~하기에 충분하다 라는 의미입니다.

4. Humans may have changed earth as much as the great glacier of the ice ages or asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.

   인간은 빙하기의 거대한 빙하나 공룡을 죽인 소행성만큼이나 지구를 변화시켰을지도 모릅니다.

   may have p.p -> ~ 했을지도 모른다

   as much as ~만큼

   that 뒤의 문장이 asteroid 수식

   *glacier 빙하

   **asteroid 소행성

문법적으로 몇 가지 점을 주의하면 좋습니다.

먼저 "Humans have changed Earth in many ways."에서 Earth는 대문자로 시작하는 것이 맞습니다.

그리고 changed는 과거 분사 형태로 현재완료 시제에서 잘 쓰이고 있습니다.

"Our impact is so strong and long-lasting that some scientists say we should have our own geological epoch." 이 문장에서 geological epoch는 지질 시대라는 의미로 적절한 표현입니다.

geological는 형용사로 epoch를 수식합니다.

또한 "This means that our time on earth is important enough to be a new chapter in the planets history."에서 earth는 일반적으로 소문자로 쓰지만 지구를 특별히 강조하고 싶다면 대문자로 써도 괜찮습니다.
